Better Skiing: Technology
Welcome to this edition of Better Skiing, I’m Bruce Ruff.
Do you have a cell phone? Do you have a personal computer? How about an SUV? Then why are you still skiing that old equipment? Especially, your straight skis.
Obviously you know technology can make life easier. This is especially true with new ski equipment. Skis today come in shapes that target many groups – Racers, Freeriders, Slopestyle, Freecarvers and All-Mountain skiers. All of these different models are designed to make skiing easier. They all are much wider in the shovel and some more narrow under foot than others but they all lend to easier turns. Snow conditions are not as important with the new skis – they can handle anything. Terrain that you couldn’t ski well before is now accessible and easily skied. Boots are now warmer with a better fit and more adjustments, and many of the new bindings are integrated right into the ski allowing a better flex. If you’re not in touch with the new technology of skiing today – check it out. Give yourself a chance to improve.
