It is 2008… that is a “Wow” in its own right… we are all going to be another year older! But the snow!!! It has been falling and it has been fun! Bumpy’s Beacon Basin is back! Go practice your backcountry rescuing skills! For those of you who don’t know, Backcountry Access (BCA) donated a system for beacon training last year. It consists of 10 different buried transmitters and targets and will be open from 10 am to 4pm daily. All you need to bring is your beacon to find them. You don’t need a shovel, just grab one of the probe poles provided and enter the site. “Bumpy’s Beacon Basin” is located due east of the bottom of the Lenawee lift at the base of the East Wall. For assistance on the day, please use the house phone in the A-Frame and call 5760.

MONTEZUMA BOWL

I know you are all getting anxious for the grand opening of “Zuma,” we are too! Trust me on that!!! But you will just have to wait a little longer… I promise it will open soon we are just waiting for a little more snow. I will personally send out a Pali’s Pitch telling you when it is opening and it will be all over our website, myspace, radio…

Being as anxious as you, I thought I would put some shots of what is going on in the Bowl!

So remember… I will tell you when it is opening as soon as I know… I have big ears if you know what I mean!

THE KIDS FREERIDE JAM – 1/12/08

You and I both know your child total rocks on their skis or snowboard, so why not enter them in the 1st Annual Kids Freeride Jam? The competition is for children aged 8-15 years (must be born after 1/11/1993), and all disciplines. In a nutshell, children will compete against their peers in a jam format in the Treeline Terrain Park. Entry is $10 per child, a legal guardian must sign a liability waiver and all children receive a goody bag!

A-BASIN SEASON PASSES

The 2007-08 Arapahoe Basin ONLY Passes Adult Season Pass (ages 20-69) is now selling for $279 Youth Season Pass (ages 15-19) is $189 Child Season Pass (ages 6-14) is selling for $99 (These passes have no black out dates)

Don’t forget that all A-Basin season passes entitles the holder to a free group lesson and one free day at Silverton Mountain (restrictions apply).
