Super "Bowl" Skiing
Well, it’s Thursday morning and I’m planning my weekend skiing. Super Bowl XLI is coming up and my beloved Chicago Bears are making an appearance after a 21 year hiatus. For some reason, and I don’t know why, people just don’t go skiing on Super Bowl Sunday. For the past couple of years I have always gone skiing on football’s most holy day and this year is no exception.
Back in 1997 and 1998 when the Broncos were in the Super Bowl, you could have skied the whole mountain and not seen another skier or rider. The misconception is you can’t ski and watch T.V. on the same day. I’m not sure if it’s just me but all I need is a 15-minute pre-game show and I’m ready for the game. The pre-game show keeps getting longer and longer each year and this year I believe it started on Tuesday. This Super Bowl Sunday, I’ll do what I do every year. I’ll ski the bowls all day and make it back for the start of the 5 hour game.
Here are my suggestions for the ultimate Super Bowl Sunday.
- Wake up at 6 AM, get in the car and drive to a local resort.
- Wear my 1985 Chicago Bears t-shirt as a base layer.
- Ski/Ride the slopes till 2PM; have the slopes to myself.
- Go to the resort bar to hit their Superbowl specials or head back home - either way you’ll have a couple of cold Bud Lights in you before kick-off.
- Cheer on “Da Bears” to victory, while grilling up some Polish Sausage!
