Learn to Ski and Love it

You don’t have to be a messy-haired kid to take a lesson… If fact, many successful messy-haired adults actually pick up useful techniques and skills during their midlife crisises.

Expect red carpet from Colorado resorts when it comes to inspiring lifetime skiers and riders - even during your midlife crisis! Really, you can be any age to to take a lesson and benefit from it. Crested Butte gave us some tips for never-evers and those of you polishing up your skills on the snow.

Quotes on Safety:

1. “Make sure your equipment is ready for the slopes. Get your bindings released checked and tune your skis so they will glide and turn easily. Be prepared for the slopes with all of your equipment” Dan Beck, CB Mountain School Pro

2. “Take a lesson! Begin every season at your favorite resort with a lesson from a certified professional instructor. Certified Pros know the mountain and where all the good snow is. We ski and teach with a safety mindset on every run.” Dusty Dyar, CB Mountain School Pro.

Learning Tips:

1. “Balance is the key to improving your skiing and riding skills. Develop a stance on your skis and boards that allows you to move fore/aft and side to side in balance. Keep your hips above your feet and your joints slightly flexed, this is the athletic stance we teach all of our students”. Dave McGuire, CB Mountain School Pro.

2. “Develop a relaxed rhythm as you make turns down the slope. Connect your turns with continuous and rhythmic movements, avoid stopping and starting between your turns. Build rhythm into your skiing and riding and look great coming down the slopes” Charlie Farnan, CB Mountain Schools.

3. “To ski or ride like a pro - Come and ski or ride with a pro” CB Mountain Schools
