5th Annual Beacon Bowl and Avalanche Awareness Day

Backcountry skiers and riders should not miss this educational avalanche awareness day on Saturday, February 3rd. Participants can compete to see who can find a buried beacon the fastest. Spectators are able to test out the newest avalanche gear and attend clinics on the use of various avalanche products. Prizes awarded to fastest competitors in amateur and professional divisions.

If my two-and-a-half year old can do it . . .

January is “Learn to Ski and Ride Month” here in Colorado and we took full advantage of it last week getting our 2 1/2 year old daughter Bryn on skis for the first time at Steamboat. She had such a good time that she didn’t want to come in off the magic carpet.

If you watched the storm roll into Colorado last weekend, you noticed that it favored the Southwest Colorado. You can’t get any more southwesterly than Purgatory (Durango).
