A fall snowstorm delivered an early Halloween treat for skiers and snowboarders today at Breckenridge and Keystone with up to 2 feet of snow overnight, prompting Keystone Resort to announce an earlier opening to its 2006-2007 season.

On November 5th, listen in to 850 KOA. Hosts Jon Lawrence and “Biff America” will have coffee talk with a surprise guest from Colorado Ski Country and several of the athletes who’ll be at the Ski and Snowboard Expo this year.

It was a great day up here today! We started with sunny skies and a lot of anxious skiers and riders and now are enjoying the fresh snowfall!

Congratulations to A-basin who kicks off their 60^th anniversary season with an exclamation point by becoming the first ski area in North America to open for the 2006-07 season.

Isn’t that half the fun? Ok, not half. But don’t deny waking up, peeking out the window looking for white stuff on the ground, and staying up late watching last years ski movies. And every year, you seek out inspiration from filmmakers like Warren Miller (this year with”Off the Grid”) or the small but punchy Matchstick Productions (“Push” and the skier-edited “Pull”).

SKI Magazine’sannual “Top 50 Resort Guide,” the definitive ranking of North American ski resorts, names Vail, Colo. as the No. 1 ski resort in its October issue, on newsstands September 26. Vail resurges to the top spot after being ranked second in last year’s survey.

As the largest ski resort in the US, Vail Mountain last season hosted 1.6 million guests on its slopes. And wouldn’t you like to know that Vail is taking the success and putting it back in your face, er, in your children’s face…or whatever.
